Selecting A Gown

January 3rd, 2008

Let’s just lay it on the table. Wedding gowns aren’t inexpensive. Finding the right one may take time, but be patient because you want the one that perfectly suits you.

Many brides are going for dresses with décolletage or halter-type necklines, but know your body. If your neck and shoulders aren’t your best features, why draw attention to them? A dramatic look can also be achieved with an asymmetrical or off-shoulder neckline. Wearing a minimal amount of jewelry with this look keeps the attention on you.

About Registires

November 26th, 2007

Bridal registries aren’t just dishes and linens anymore. Nowadays, brides can (and do) register for anything and everything!

Basically, there are three types of bridal registries. The traditional ones for kitchenware and other household goods (fine china, flatware, bedding, etc.) are still the most popular. Honeymoon registries allow invitees to contribute to a fund that the couple can use to pay for their dream honeymoon. For the couple that already has everything, charity registries that let guests donate to causes of the couple’s choice are becoming increasingly fashionable.

Make your wish lists, but control your excitement. It’s best not to register too early. Why? Some items might not be in stock any longer when your invitees start buying your gifts. Opening the registries two to four months before your wedding is optimal. Just be sure you’re registered before your bridal shower invitations go out so they can include that information!

You’ve worked way too hard at designing the perfect wedding for it to all fall apart on the big day. Here are a few tips on how to avoid some wedding day disasters:

1. Food-filled napkins - wouldn’t you rather your guests talk about how lovely your wedding was instead of asking each other about that nasty stuff on the croissants? Don’t just rely on your own sense of taste; bring along others whose opinions you trust so you can get a good consensus.

Catering To Your Wishes

October 25th, 2007

If your reception site doesn’t have (or doesn’t require the use of) its own in-house caterer, this is something you’ll want to address next. It’s not uncommon for caterers to be booked an entire year in advance, so it’s important not to wait until the last minute on this one to avoid disappointment down the road.

Here’s the deal – most of your guests will remember and talk about the food that was served at your reception, so your catering decision is an important one. You’ll do well by finding an experienced vendor who can show you pictures of some of their past events they’ve catered. Pay attention to how organized they are. The photos will also help give you some ideas as far as table arrangements go. Schedule tasting, and bring along your mom or best friend – anyone whose opinion you trust. Obtain a price sheet from them detailing entrée options so that you can begin planning the menu you’ll have at your reception. Be sure those prices are the same as those listed within any written agreements.
